The formation of successful public and private sector partnerships for the provision of infrastructure projects is now perceived as crucial to the procurement process. The Private Finance Initiative (PFI) has highlighted the importance of a good working relationship between government and the private sector throughout the UK, and has also become apparent in other parts of the world through the use of concession contracts and the build, operate, transfer (BOT) procurement approaches. This book examines the impact and consequences of public/private partnerships in Europe and the Far East on a variety of real infrastructure construction projects. The author assesses the developing role of government in BOT infrastructure projects, and considers the responsibility of government in promoting and facilitating projects, aspects of the project agreement, and a review of the important aspects of project evaluation. This book is a timely arrival into a field of growing interest for the academic and professional engineer worldwide. |
