Concrete will be the key material for Mankind to create the built environment of the next millennium. The requirements of this infrastructure will be both demanding, in terms of technical performance and economy, and yet be greatly varied, from architectural masterpieces to the simplest of utilities. It covers recent developments in the areas of durability provisions, assessment and monitoring, and repairs. Specific topics discussed include, selection of materials and mix composition, performance specification and durability by intent, whole life cost and durability audit, repair materials and methods, development and diagnostic technology and contract conditions/management. The 11 volume Creating with Concrete series includes: Creating With Concrete; Modern concrete materials: binders, additions and admixtures; Radical design and concrete practices; Utilizing ready mixed concrete and mortar; Role of interfaces in concrete; Innovation in Concrete Structures; Controlling concrete degradation; Specialist techniques and materials for concrete construction; Extending performance of concrete structures; Concrete durability and repair technology; Exploiting wastes in concrete. |
