This proceedings, Ports '95, is a collection of the technical papers presented at the Ports '95 Conference held in March 1995 in Tampa, Florida. Initiated in 1977, this Conference is the seventh in a series and was co-sponsored by the Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the U.S. Section of the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses (PIANC). Authors, although predominantly from the United States, are also from such varied locations as India, Belgium, Spain, Taiwan, Bangladesh, South Africa, The Netherlands, Norway, and Canada. Paper topics are varied, and include such subjects as: 1)wharf and pier design, 2) container terminals, 3) bulk and neobulk terminals, 4) liquid bulk terminals, 5) cruise terminal, 6) military facilities, 7) cargo handling equipment and systems, 8) geotechnical and environmental issues, 9) dredging, 10) coastal engineering, 11) seismic design, 12) vessel collision, 13) navigation, 14) marina facilities, and 15) port rehabilitation and upgrade. These papers provide a glimpse of the present and the future to the reader, by introducing them to technically-advanced, innovative information that can be utilized by ports and industry in the next century.
