In 1994, the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC) undertook a technical evaluation of the JMI Channel Bridge, a precast segmental overpass bridge system intended for use in either bridge replacement projects or new construction. A technical evaluation plan was developed in June 1995, consisting of two components: 1) Technical analyses and evaluation of design attributes and performance history, with emphasis on the unique aspects of this technology; and 2) a full-scale demonstration of the technology (the results of which will be presented in a separate HITEC evaluation report). This report contains the findings of technical analyses and evaluation of the Channel Bridge.
