Pipeline Research Needs is the proceedings of a workshop organized by The Pipeline Research Committee, Pipeline Division, American Society of Civil Engineers and held in Leesburg, Virginia, March 28-29, 1996. The purpose of the workshop was to identify and prioritize pipeline-related research needs. The workshop covered all pipeline applications, including crude oil, natural gas, water and sewer products, pneumatic, and capsule. However, instead of arranging the workshop along traditional industrial lines, they were organized according to function. This intergrated approach brought pipeliners from different industries together to share information and exchange ideas concerning such topics as: 1) Pipeline safety and protection; 2) design; 3) operations; 4) fluid mechanics/hydraulics; 5) construction and rehabilitation; 6) automatic control and instrumentation; and 7) freight pipelines. |
