Nondestructive Testing Handbook, 3rd Edition, Volume 1: Leak Testing

Edited by Michael L. Mester and Paul McIntire
Published in 1997, 650 pages
ISBN: 1-57117-071-5

$195.00

Leak testing uses a variety of techniques to detect and locate leaks in pressure containment parts, structures, evacuated components and systems. Leaks can be detected by using electronic listening devices, pressure gage measurements, liquid and gas penetrant techniques, spectrometry, thermography and simple soap bubble tests. The book is a significant updating of the second edition volume on the same subject and features new text on infrared thermographic leak testing, storage tank testing, counterflow design and nonfluorocarbon tracer gases. It has 650 pages, 81 tables, 315 equations, 317 illustrations, 82 photographs, a 12-page glossary, a 12-page bibliography and a 10-page index. The book is intended to be a significant and useful addition to technical knowledge for the welding, petrochemical, power generation, microprocessing, and manufacturing industries and for any industry in which pressures or vacuums must be carefully monitored.
