Corrosion-Resistant Piping Systems

By P.A. Schweitzer

Today’s piping designer is faced with the problem of selecting the correct material of construction to resist the corrosive attack of the fluids being conveyed. The problem is aggravated by the large variety of materials available and their varying corrosion-resistant, physical, and mechanical properties. This book provides a single source with which to compare the corrosion-resistant, physical, and mechanical properties of various piping materials. To this end, solid plastic piping systems, metallic piping systems, and miscellaneous piping systems such as glass, carbon, and clay are included. A section covering the materials of construction available for double-containment piping systems, as well as their design, use, and installation, is also included. Sections are also included on good piping design practice, which is necessary to maintain the corrosion-resistant properties of the piping material. The compatibility of each piping system is compared with a list of 180 of the most common corrodents.
