The First International Symposium on Process Industry Piping was organized to provide a forum to address process piping concerns related to the processing, storage, and transfer of chemicals and/or hazardous materials. The preceedings contain more than 40 technical papers written by industry experts on the design, fabrication, inspection, materials of construction, maintenance management, and general awareness of piping systems in the process industries.

The symposium, conducted in 1993, provided individuals from government, organizations, corporations, and other industry sectors the opportunity to share corrosion control technology and discuss requirements, codes, and risk and reliability issues resulting from failures and potential failures of piping systems.
