37943 This report investigates the utility of the slow strain rate test technique (SSRT) as an effective means of predicting stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of metals used in the chemical process industries (CPI). The report identifies alloy environment systems in which the SSR technique produces anomalous SCC results, test variables that must be controlled to make SSR test results applicable to the CPI, limitations of the SSR test technique, and program support necessary to resolve questions. |
