The provisions in this Standard are intended to protect personnel involved in the use of hypobaric facilities against fire, electrical, explosive, and implosive hazards. NFPA 99B also provides criteria for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of these facilities.

The 2005 edition of this document was revised to coordinate with the requirements of the 2005 edition of NFPA 99 and to incorporate changes based on actual field experiences. It was also reformatted for easier comprehension and application.
