NFPA 1963 provides the requirements for fire couplings and adapters. It includes the dimensions for both screw thread connections and non-threaded connections, checking gages, gaskets, and gasket seats.

The 1998 edition gave the dimensions for American National Fire Hose Connection Screw Thread (NH) for fire hose couplings and adapters with nominal sizes from 3/4 inch (19 mm) through 6 inch (150 mm). The 2003 edition adds the dimensioning requirements for 8 inch (200 mm) NH thread.
