NFPA 1975(04)
Station/Work Uniforms for Fire and Emergency Services

2004 Edition, Approx. 20pp.
$52.00

Protect fire and emergency services personnel with thermally stable textiles.

NFPA 1975 specifies minimum requirements for the design, performance, testing, and certification of station/work uniforms that are non-primary protective garments, so that they will not cause or contribute to burn injury severity.

Revisions to the 2004 edition include:

  • Changes that distinguish between station/work uniform textiles which are thermally stable and those textiles that potentially could melt onto skin under conditions of accidental flame or high heat exposure. For this purpose, a new thermal stability test and new thermal stability performance requirements have been added.
  • Addition of new optional requirements for flame resistance performance and tests to determine the flame resistance of textiles for verification where manufacturers’ represent that their products incorporate "flame resistant" fabrics, or for purchasers to specify flame resistant materials in purchase specifications
  • Format and editorial changes that improve readability and facilitate easier referencing
