Surfactants - A Practical Handbook
1999,
300 pages, 10 figures, by K. Robert Lange
$89.95
Description
This book is intended for the industrial chemist, engineer, and marketer
involved with surfactant applications and product development. It covers
the fundamental surface chemical factors governing the use of surfactants
and their basic properties through chapters discussing the background
and current state-of-the-art applications as practiced in the US and Canada.
The most significant applications for surfactants are soil removal and
emulsification, and these are areas that have produced the most new product
developments. Other major applications are also addressed from enhanced
oil recovery to fire fighting and from ore flotation to the strengthening
of concrete. Toxicology, environment, and the analysis of surfactants
are included in separate chapters. These important topics relate to applications
and to regulatory restraints that are important to the reader in pursuing
research or product development activities. Appendices include charts
summarizing the analysis of surfactants, their commercial synthesis, and
the major suppliers.
