About the Author
Born in 1912, Michael J. Kollins learned of automobile manufacturers early, literally from reading hubcap designations in his father's Buick shops. He began as a service technician for the Dodge Brothers. He then moved on to work as Chief of Section, Technical Data and Service Engineering for Packard Motor Car Company; and Service Technical Manager, Manager of Warranty Administration, and Manager of the Highland Park Service Center for Chrysler Corporation. Kollins has written articles for the newsletter Wheels, and was co-author of a centennial publication of the Engineering Society of Detroit, ESD Technology Century (1998).
